The UW Office of Minority Affairs & Diversity has an outstanding opportunity for an Academic Services-Director.
The Educational Talent Search (ETS) Program is a federally funded Trio Services grant. This director position manages the program budget, completes annual performance reviews and supervises the recruitment efforts of staff. The program works with eligible secondary and post-secondary students in specific schools in Eastern and Northwestern Washington. The program staff works closely with counselors, administrators, teachers, parents, and other institutional officials to help participants graduate from school and to develop educational plans for post-secondary educational opportunities such as applying to two and four year colleges, financial aid, etc.
This director position will be located within the Yakima Valley service area. The director will travel for meetings to the Seattle campus at least twice monthly as well as conduct business meetings in the Mt. Vernon and Marysville service area as needed.
Provide overall leadership, strategic direction to student educational programs and management duties on the grant including meeting goals and objectives of the grant; function as the principal investigator (PI); submitting an annual performance report; collaborate with secondary schools to identify, recruit and offer programs to 700 students; manage and support team efforts
Cultivate alliances and support for the program with UW deans, faculty, and senior administrators
Develop strong relationships with partner schools/districts, grant partners, and Trio professionals.
Collaborate with existing programs in OMA&D, other UW pre-college programs and, college planning organizations.
Increase awareness, visibility and support for ETS throughout the State of Washington.
Identify grant sources to enhance ETS programming and to implement new initiatives to support student success.
Conduct short term and longs term planning with measurable objectives.
Provide overall operational, financial and administrative oversight.
Manage and review monthly budget and reconciling reports on My Financial Desktop; submitting a revised budget as needed each fiscal year.
Ensure compliance with Federal grant guidelines and UW policies.
Plan and develop annual budget.
Oversee recruitment, hiring, evaluation, retention and supervision of ETS staff.
Provide progress report to Associate Vice President for College Access.
Provide written annual reports and all close out documents/reports to grant sponsor.
Master's Degree in Education or related field.
3-5 years experience administering K-12 or higher education student services or academic development program.
Knowledge of OMA&D programs, initiatives and policies.
Excellent written and verbal skills.
Ability to write reports, familiarity working with federal and/or state grants involving school districts, community based agencies in Northwestern and Eastern Washington area.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Knowledge of the administrative structure of a large university.
Grant writing ability
