As part of the strategic plan for expanding biomedical and health science research in emerging fields, the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Watson School, State University of New York (SUNY) at Binghamton invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor with an expected start date September 1, 2017. We are seeking biomedical engineers who have demonstrated exceptional potential in scholarship, ability to attract extramural research funding, and capability to teach both undergraduate and graduate levels of biomedical engineering courses. We seek applications from candidates in all areas of biomedical engineering. Specific areas of interest include advanced biomanufacturing, biomaterials, regenerative medicine, stem cell and tissue engineering, synthetic biology, organ-on-a-chip, nano-biomanufacturing, genomics, and other emerging areas. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusiveness are preferred.
The candidate will be expected to lead efforts to broaden the university's Road Map Initiative in the Transdisciplinary Area of Excellence in Health Science. The Department is particularly strong in advanced bio-manufacturing, tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, nanomedicine, cardiovascular engineering, biomaterials, organ-on-a-chips, and biomechanics. The candidate will be expected to develop a plan that synergizes our strategic partnership with the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Center of Biomanufacturing for Regenerative Medicine. The Southern Tier has recently received a $500 million URI award from the State. This new hire will be expected to strategically contribute to this program.
Candidates must have a PhD degree and the ability to lead our research and teaching programs in biomedical instrumentation, bioimaging, neuron science and engineering, and computation biology.
