Job Description Summary:
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering has an immediate need to fill a tenure-track assistant professor position beginning August 15, 2017. The department seeks candidates with teaching and research interest in the areas of Big Data analytics, Data Mining, Operations Research, or Quantitative Decision Making. Other areas of interest may also be considered.
Oakland University supports over 20,000 students, with over 3,100 students in the School of Engineering and Computer Science, on a beautiful 1,500 acre site located 15 miles north of Detroit. The ISE Dept. is located in the new, 130,000 square foot, Engineering Center. The dept. offers a B.S.E. in ISE (ABET accredited), M.S. in ISE, M.S. in Engineering Management, and Ph.D. in Systems Engineering. Other departments in the school include Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Computer Science and IT. Engineering faculty teaching load is 2 courses per semester with a good startup package that includes course release. Faculty at OU have access to local industry for joint research and educational projects – including automotive, advanced manufacturing, defense, logistics, energy, and health care.
