The Department of Radiology in the School of Medicine at the University of Washington (UW) in Seattle invites applications for a full-time faculty position (12 month service period) at the level of Assistant Professor (0113) or Associate Professor (0112) non-tenure track to join ten existing faculty members in the Interventional Radiology (IR) Section. In addition to clinical activities, responsibilities will include instruction of medical students, diagnostic radiology residents, and IR fellows. Productivity in research or other academic pursuits is mandatory for promotion.
The UW IR section covers four sites (the University of Washington Medical Center, Harborview Medical Center, Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System, and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance) and has an affiliation agreement for fellowship training with Seattle Children's Hospital. Our service provides a broad range of vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures, with particular strengths in endovascular treatment of peripheral arterial disease, interventional oncology, solid organ transplant interventions, trauma, and dialysis access management. The clinical practice is outstanding and includes inpatient admitting services and a full day of outpatient clinic for each IR attending physician. We have an active IR fellowship program with five adult IR fellows. An IR/DR residency program has just been accredited. The section operates an active animal laboratory at the South Lake Union campus with considerable NIH grant support.
Candidates should meet the following requirements:
- M.D. terminal degree in the field or foreign equivalent and eligibility for full medical licensure in Washington State
- Completion of VIR fellowship in an accredited program
- Demonstrated commitment to an academic career based on record of scientific presentation or publications
- In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
