The Department of Physiology and Biophysics has an outstanding opportunity for a temporary, part-time Program Coordinator.
The Program Coordinator will provide administrative support and operational direction to the Computational Neuroscience Program and for the research program of the director/s. The holder of this position will help to manage the director and program's educational programs, research programs, travel, community activities and communications.
The Program Coordinator will work with the program director/s to plan, implement and organize the logistics for regular research and community activities such as lab meetings, joint lab meetings, journal clubs, larger group workshops, seminar series, social events and
career development events for the director's research group and for the Computational Neuroscience Program. This position also assists in the preparation of progress reports for research and training grants and to meet milestones for implementation of plans.
Specific activities that this position will handle on a day-to-day basis can be as follows:
Maintaining records and schedules for research and training plans
Communicating with the research group and the program group about relevant activities
Soliciting and compiling information from students, postdocs and faculty as needed for planning activities and for progress reports for grants
Maintaining a social media presence for the director/s' research group and for the Program, including student and faculty profiles, posted seminar program, blog postings
PI and research group support
Assist in maintaining meeting and travel schedule, respond to scheduling emails, keep PI and lab calendar and schedule up to date
Assist in booking travel and preparing and submitting reimbursements
Maintain and update group website with news, blog posts
Communicate with the research group about relevant activities
Other support as necessary
Grants and research administration
Facilitate grant proposals and progress reports. Establish timelines to meet sponsor and UW due dates.
Prepare or coordinate preparation of supporting materials and other proposal-related documentation.
Provide post-award support to external awards; activities will include monitoring faculty and staff effort and payroll distributions, purchasing equipment, supplies and services, and budget creation and close-out.
Monitor research awards for compliance with university and sponsor policies
Training program management
Manage training grant fellowship application cycle, develop and distribute advertising, update and make available application forms, collate applications for review
Coordinate fellow selection process and the selection committee; assigning applications to review, compiling reviews, disseminating review results, coordinating final selection meeting.
Solicit and compile quarterly progress reports from undergraduate trainees
