Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required with emphasis in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. Master's degree and/or Professional Engineering registration preferred. Seven years in construction or maintenance of central heating and cooling systems or experience in a related field. Experience dealing with architectural and engineering firms, contractors, stake holders. Seven years supervisory experience in a higher education environment preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Plans, organizes, oversees and directs operations and maintenance services of campus facilities. Areas of responsibility include: customer service, central plant management, access control, food equipment, carpentry, paint, sign, plumbing, welding, parking, electrical, automotive, vehicle rental, heating ventilation air conditioning, sanitation, fire alarm services, and utility, energy management and employee management.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Directs the supervision of Service Supervisors, Vehicle Fleet Manager, Customer Service Center, Utility and Campus Energy Manager as well as other assigned staff. Plans and monitors preventive maintenance program for all service areas. Discusses Facilities Service problems with service contractors and oversees contract fulfillment. Advises on major renovations and/or construction of new buildings or utility systems. Supervises and monitors major repairs. Supports the Campus Energy Manager in the development of energy conservation plans, sustainability efforts and efficient use of utilities. Makes recommendations on the distribution of utility charges among campus users. Administrative duties include meetings, budget preparations, management and oversight. Oversees Facilities Services customer satisfaction/complaints, approves purchases, work orders and key/card access requests. Work order software oversight. Responsible for Facilities Services employment related tasks such as hiring, performance management, employee relations, etc. Performs other related duties as assigned.
