Collaborative Computing Solutions (CCS) supports the research goals of Virginia Tech by maintaining the university's Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Enclave. This virtualized environment is compliant with U.S. Federal Government regulation NIST SP 800-171.Provide a central point of contact between CCS, the Office of Research, the IT Security Office and the principal investigators working within the environment
The CUI Program Coordinator position has the following responsibilities in support of the Virginia Tech CUI Enclave.
Coordinate and document change management processes based on changing compliance guidelines
Maintain current and working knowledge of CUI control requirements and their respective mitigation procedures
Conduct and document risk assessments and security reviews of the CUI Enclave environment
Develop, manage and maintain a defined set of standard operating procedures supporting maintenance, security responses, account management, privileged access, and CUI data identification
Work with CCS staff to support the availability of the CUI Enclave services
Work with principal investigators approved by the Office of Research regarding CUI Enclave on-boarding procedures including virtual machine creation, account management, hardened thin client access, and distribution of secure key fobs
Maintain documentation and logs to support compliance auditing requirements
Required Qualifications:In order to comply with export control laws, this position is restricted to a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, a related field or equivalent work experience
Experience with working Windows and Linux operating systems
Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to provide leadership in assigned areas
Previous experience preparing secured reports/documents and presenting sensitive information
Experience with regulatory and legislative authorities including but not limited to HIPAA, FISMA, PII, and FERPA
Experience working with security software or hardware applications such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, network mapping tools, and vulnerability scanners
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to exercise confidentiality, good judgment, and critical thinking when working with sensitive issues
Preferred Qualifications:Experience with scripting languages, such as PowerShell
Experience with network fundamentals including TCP/IP networking (IPv4/IPv6)
Experience working with Cisco LAN, WAN and network management products
Experience with or demonstrated knowledge of Windows or Linux server administration
Experience supporting customer applications on a hosted Windows server environment
Experience using Microsoft System Center products, including SCCM and SCOM
Experience working with Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technology
Knowledge of authentication protocols and other methods of providing security for passwords and network communication, including Multi-Factor Authentication
Experience in providing security guidance and training to both technical personnel and end-users
