The Network Administrator II serves as a member of the infrastructure group in the Questrom School of Business Information Technology Office. Responsible for Questroms Linux and Window systems including installation/configuration, testing, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software. Provide planning, installation, configuration, upgrades, and support for Linux applications, web servers, and database servers. Adhere to industry best practices and BU standards. Ensure severs' availability, backups, and fault tolerance. Work with a variety of 3rd party cloud based applications to configure user authentication access using LDAP, Shibboleth to enable Single-Sign- On (SSO). Act as a technical resource and advisor; participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure; leverage resources to provide economies of scale, and enhanced faculty, staff and student digital experience. Collaborate with University technical resources including governance, working group and vendor selection committees.
Salary: Grade 54
B.S./B.A. degree required, ideally in the field of Computer Engineering or equivalent. Thorough knowledge of: Linux Operating Systems, Windows Operating Systems, Apache and Nginx web servers. Linux and systems administrator certification (preferably Red Hat Certification) and three to five years of experience providing server/workstation hardware and OS support. Problems with critical servers may require troubleshooting and repair at any hour of the day or night seven days a week. The position requires being on-call outside normal working hours.
