The Department of Economics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor in one of the following applied microeconomics areas: Health, Labor and Development. The new hire will conduct empirical research, teach at all levels, and occasionally be required to travel to professional meetings and conferences. Candidates with a track record of external funding are preferred.
The successful candidate will be expected to pursue a vigorous research program, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, continue development of scholarly activities and professional capabilities, and participate in department, college, and university governance.
To receive consideration, applicants need to have:
- an earned doctorate in economics or related discipline at the time of appointment
- an outstanding academic record including an internationally recognized level of professional achievement, commensurate with a tenured appointment at the rank of Associate Professor at Virginia Tech
- demonstrated effectiveness teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
