The Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics consists of over 80 full-time faculty and staff members. In addition, the seven departments in the College consist of over 80 part-time faculty members. Together we serve over 1000 students majoring in STEM disciplines and honor the liberal arts mission of the University by significantly contributing to the Core Curriculum. The Center is an extraordinary environment in which to learn, study, and conduct research. The Associate Dean of the Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics (BCoSM), serves as a key leader of the College. The successful candidate will join a team that ensures all students, faculty and staff of BCoSM are well served and supported. The Associate Dean reports to the Dean of the College, supports numerous vital activities, is a key leader of the programs of the College and helps assure their quality.
Supervision Received: The Associate Dean is supervised by the Dean of the Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics .
This is a (12) twelve month non-unit, exempt position.
Students:Respond to student academic requests
Respond to student appeals of grades and curricular approvals
Represent the Bartlett College of Science and Mathematics on the Academic Standards Committee
Coordinate communication with and advising of "at risk" students with department chairs and program coordinators
Administer the Dean's List, undergraduate and graduate progress review, and the College's probation and suspension system
Coordinate follow-up of graduates in collaboration with the Director of Career Services
Coordinate follow-up of internships in collaboration with the department chairs and the Director of Internships
Help to develop, monitor and implement student diversity initiatives
Scheduling:Work with departments and Enrollment Services to coordinate effective and efficient course scheduling, reporting and registration
Monitor faculty workload obligations and work with department chairs to assist with the management of workloads and assignments
Write an annual report on the qualifications, adequacy and deployment of faculty resources within the College
Help to develop, monitor, and implement faculty diversity initiatives
Continuous Improvement:Assist departments and programs with the development and monitoring of programmatic assessment of student learning outcomes
Assist departments and programs with the development of continuous improvements in programs based on the assessment of student learning outcomes
Write an annual comprehensive assessment and continuous improvement report for the College
Administration:Assist the Dean in the overall planning, budgeting, and management of the College
Assist the Dean in representing the College and University to companies in the region
Assist the Dean in representing the College and University to partner community colleges in the region (BCC, CCCC, and MCC)
Participate as a member of the Provost's Council and work collaboratively with all Academic Affairs staff to promote student and faculty success
Serve on various committees, to be assigned, to further the strategic plan of the College and University (e.g., Care Team, Core Curriculum Steering Committee, Academic University Committee, Internship Steering Committee)
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:An earned terminal degree in one of the disciplines of the College, or a closely related field.
A minimum of three years' experience in academic administration, such as department chairperson or program director.
College teaching experience at the rank of associate professor or higher.
Credentials and experience substantially similar to the above may be considered.
Experience with accreditation, maintenance of assessment systems, and programs for continuous improvement.
Applicants should have strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively, decisively, and transparently with academic leadership, faculty, students, staff, donors, and other stakeholders important to the College; the abilities to communicate clearly, collaborate effectively, and maintain good humor.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of the disciplines and programs that comprise the College of Arts and Sciences.

Commitment to support of faculty development, including scholarly and creative activity.
Demonstrated ability to provide effective strategic planning and sound fiscal and personnel management at the program or department level.
Evidence of successfully engaging and developing external relationships that effectively build an infrastructure of fundraising and resource enhancement for program support and growth.
Dynamic team-building and leadership skills with evidence of deep appreciation of and support for shared governance; and
Commitment to engagement at local, state, national, and global levels.

Salary Range: 100,000-$110,000
