In the coming decade, under the leadership of President John Simon, Lehigh's goal is to be a premier residential research university, internationally recognized for research excellence and a distinctive student experience. Lehigh is well positioned to provide a unique higher education experience by combining a research university with a student-centered residential college. It is distinctive in having both a campus setting and core strengths similar to a liberal arts college, as well as strong programs in business, engineering, sciences, and education. The University ranks highly nationally, and competes vigorously, with the most academically distinguished universities for innovative programming, path-breaking scholarship, and excellent students, faculty and staff. With a student body becoming more diverse and increasingly international, Lehigh seeks an innovative and transformative leader to help craft and shape a vision for student affairs at the University.
As the head of the student affairs division, the VPSA reports directly to the Provost and serves as a key member of the President's senior leadership group and trusted partner to the Board of Trustees Subcommittee on Student Affairs. S/he will oversee Counseling and Psychological Services, the Health and Wellness Center, Military Science and Leadership, the Dean of Students Office, the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Pride Center, the Women's Center, and the Health Advancement and Prevention Strategies Office. The VPSA oversees a budget of approximately $7 million and leads a team of approximately 100 staff.
