Our UW Medicine Human Resources team has an outstanding full time opportunity for a Healthcare Recruiter.
The Healthcare Recruiter will serve a customer base at UW Medical Center and Harborview Medical Center. The position's purpose is to plan, develop and implement full-cycle recruitment and staffing strategies for assigned job classes and/or areas with special emphasis on a well-qualified and diverse pool of candidates, timeliness, and cost effectiveness. The primary role of recruiters is to fill hard-to-fill positions, one off positions, work with high demand departments, and professional level recruitments. Position is also responsible for creating recruiting strategies in the community, creating community contacts and acting as liaison with community organizations and UW Medicine.
Provide a high level of customer service in consulting with and guiding hiring managers and departments in comprehensive recruitment and staffing issues, policies, and processes.
Establish, cultivate, and maintain ongoing relationships with hiring managers in order to understand the business unit and its recruitment needs within the context of their mission; develop and maintain a strong rapport with key leaders in the department; attend departmental staff and other meetings as requested to acquire substantial knowledge about the department's business objectives, goals, operations and work culture.
Set expectations (develop roles and responsibilities). Provide counsel and expertise in all areas of recruitment and staffing (e.g., search firms, and advertising.)
Develop recruitment plan based on department needs that clearly define and commit to service and performance criteria; influence strategic staffing decisions such as succession planning, training, and career development.
Execute recruitment plan by aggressively recruiting for well-qualified candidates from a variety of sources including passive sourcing, managing selection process to include interviewing, assessing candidates, screening, and recommending finalists, and filling the staffing needs within the defined service and performance criteria.
Provide consultation on a variety of human resource issues and work closely with all areas of Human Resource Department to facilitate effective Human Resource relationships; provide basic benefits information to hiring managers and candidates; train departmental hiring managers on recruitment processes, interviewing techniques.
Promote the medical centers and/or the university at a variety of recruitment functions such as job fairs, university and college career days, and career events targeted for special populations. Collect and analyze data on demographics and hiring activity for use in designing recruitment plans.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Knowledge and experience related to health care positions.
Fluent in interviewing techniques.
Ability to analyze and interpret information, and consult with customers regarding federal/state rules and regulations governing employment. Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Working knowledge of technology, applicant tracking, statistics, workforce projections and analysis, and industry trends.
Facilitates collaboration with applicants, peers, managers, physicians and all other stakeholders, internally and externally.
Shares recruitment and retention knowledge and skills with colleagues, managers and administrators.
Consistently communicates recruitment and retention efforts to all stakeholders verbally, in writing and/or via presentation.
Accepts full accountability for the entire hiring process.
Strong cold calling skills
Ability to find passive candidates using various tools such as Talent Hook or similar spider tools, referral and search engines.
Skills, knowledge, and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field. Ideal candidate will possess three plus years of recruiting experience in the healthcare field. Three years experience working closely with hiring managers on recruiting and other HR issues in a dynamic and diverse environment. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills to include proven negotiation skills.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Experience in one or more of the following is a significant plus: healthcare, academia, and/or highly unionized environments. A PHR or SPHR is desirable. A proven track record in proactively and creatively sourcing and recruiting candidates in a high-volume environment utilizing multiple sourcing channels.
