Responsible for direct supervision of the ED and Outpatient Surgery career and contract coding resources as well as overseeing the activities of the auditor/trainers activities. The Coding Supervisor will be responsible for the quality of the coding efforts, and will also fill in during the Coding Manager's absence. The Supervisor will also assist with reviewing, auditing and remediating any deviation from compliant coding, training the coding staff, and educating other workforce members in coding, grouping and proper documentation.
Oversees the generation and approval of queries to assure a timely and appropriate response. Assures that all coding assignments and workflow achieves the intended result. Represents coding leadership at optimization, CDI and other interdisciplinary meetings as needed. Responsible for hiring, evaluation, training, and monitoring direct reports. Assures the highest level of data integrity, denial avoidance due to coding, and the highest quality of external data released to OSHPD and UHC.
Must have a minimum of (3) three years coding experience in a healthcare setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Prior experience as a lead, supervisor, or manager in a healthcare setting.
A Bachelor's Degree; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Credential by A.H.I.M.A. with either R.H.I.A., R.H.I.T. or C.C.S. American Health Information Management Assoc. (AHIMA)
