Advertised Summary Job Description: The Technician B will be responsible for but not limited to gross examination of biopsies, bone marrows and hardware specimens, and other small non-complicated specimens. - Review clinical and other pertinent information on test requisition slips, specimen's container and other forms submitted with the specimen. - Provides various supportive functions such as grossing bench/ utensils cleaning, hazardous waste removal, formalin tissue disposal, specimen triage, labeling of pathology materials and specimen transport, etc. - Organizing & matching specimens, test requisition slips, specimen cassettes and related materials and records, heavy lifting.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must have NYS Clinical Laboratory Technician or Certified Histological Technician license or permit.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: - Knowledge of chemistry, biology, physics, related science, or equivalent in education, training and experience.
- Ability to perform work in a neat and orderly manner and in accordance with safety regulations.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new techniques/procedures
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with grossing biopsies in a large clinical Anatomic Pathology laboratory setting. - Previous Experience with Pathology LIS /Copath, specifically with AB&T specimen tracking module , and specimen accessioning
