The Department of Philosophy and Religion in the College of Social Sciences and Humanities at Northeastern University invites applications for an appointment as Assistant, Associate or Full Professor, tenure/tenure-track, in the area of Applied Ethics, to begin in September 2017.
The candidate who fills this position will share the Department of Philosophy and Religion's commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern University education. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Philosophy at the time of appointment, be active scholars with a strong record of scholarly achievement, and be able to demonstrate a commitment to and experience with undergraduate education. Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to working with a globally diverse faculty and student body in a multidisciplinary, experiential environment. The successful candidate will teach courses in technology ethics and environmental ethics, as well as other areas of applied ethics. The successful candidate will also help develop experiential education opportunities for students in the philosophy program. We are particularly interested in candidates whose research is in the area of ethics and technology, and who can contribute to the Universitys strengths in security and resilience research and education.
