This position will serve as an advising specialist on internships, jobs, and careers related to the area of asset allocation/investing. Focus on U.S. and international target employers for entry-level positions, such as government and corporate pension funds, endowments and foundations, sovereign wealth funds, family and multi-family offices, investment consultants, hedge fund of funds, and wealth management boutiques. Identify employment opportunities in a niche area for Cornell students and alumni, and coach candidates to prepare successful application strategies. Advise and coach students interested in other aspects of financial services.
This is a full-time term position scheduled until 05/31/2017.
Bachelor's Degree with 2-3 years of work experience. Strong command of database management systems and organizational ability essential. Excellent presentation, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Sensitivity to the needs of undergraduate and graduate students. Ability to interact confidently and effectively with internal and external contacts across all levels of organizations. Teamwork skills and ability to work independently are both essential. Detail oriented and motivated. Strong service orientation. Enthusiasm for proactive outreach to numerous potential employers with no connection to Cornell and navigating those employers to assess potential opportunities. Experience with Macintosh/PC computers; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and FileMaker Pro or other database manager applications. No visa sponsorship is available for this position. No relocation assistance is available for this position.
Knowledge of financial services and investment strategy. Experience working with college age populations. Familiarity with higher education environments and knowledge of career development theory. Knowledge of trends in use of Social Media in education and strong motivation to increase knowledge of new and existing information technologies.
