To provide coordination for the hospital-wide Ostomy Program including but not limited to:Serves as a resource/consultant for all departments regarding skin/wound and ostomy management issues to promote hospital wide quality ostomy management.Collects, compiles and interprets data on hospital ostomy care audits and prepares reports for committees.Develops, coordinates, delivers and /or evaluates ostomy educational activities for hospital staff, patients and family members.Leads outcome-based approach to patient care by insuring evidence-based practice and interdisciplinary care delivery.
Conducts/ participate in research focused on skin/wound management across varied patient populations.
-Graduate of a state approved School of Registered Nursing.
-Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required. Master degree preferred.
-3 years acute care nursing experience preferred.
-A minimum of 2 years formal or informal experience in an educator role.
-Demonstrates ability to effectively work with physicians, staff, and patients.
-Demonstrates ability to utilize effective, appropriate and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
-Demonstrates ability to work independently with minimal direction and supervision.
-Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Word as well as Internet and access and utilization.
-Ability to participate in and utilize research for improvement of patient-care practices.
-Valid California Registered Nurse License.
-Current Basic Cardiac Life Support training.
-Advance Cardiac Life Support training preferred.
-Ostomy Certification required. CWOCN, preferred. If no certificate upon hire, one must obtain within 12 months of hire, and maintain renewal.
-A Fire and Safety card must be presented upon hire or must be obtained at our facility within the first 30 days of hire and maintained by renewing before expiration date.
