Physician leader that acts on behalf of the Director and provides supervision to all staff levels for administrative matters in the Director's absence. He/she will be a member of the Health Center's administrative leadership team and be responsible for the Health Center's day-to-day administrative and clinical support operations with approximately 40% administrative time and 60% clinical time. Participates on development and improvement of programs, procedures and standards of care; contributes to continuous quality improvement; collaborates with the university and community to enhance relationships with Schiffert Health Center, students, faculty and staff.
Board certified physician, graduated from an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy; completion of a General Medicine, Family Medicine, Adolescent Medicine or Internal Medicine residency. Virginia State Medical License or eligibility. Five or more years of post graduate clinical experience dealing with a wide range of medical situations and problems. Success in this position will require a strong physician leader prepared to manage and develop a talented group of interdisciplinary college health professionals providing high quality, responsive direct care to students. This is a full time administrative opportunity requiring exceptional communication skills, ability to maintain positive relationships and promote high morale while leading physicians and staff. Knowledge of typical medical conditions pertinent to college-age students; ability to communicate effectively with college students, parents, staff members, and other university departments and personnel. Experience in a college health setting or a primary care setting preferred. Must have a minimum of 3 – 5 years administrative leadership and supervisory experience in an ambulatory health care setting, preferably a college health center. Position requires familiarity with health information software systems and interfaces and an understanding of the unique characteristics of college health and university health centers. A commitment to a team approach, experience working with committees; excellent communication skills; and a demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively with a diverse office staff is essential.
Knowledge of college health center accreditation process and use of electronic medical records (EMR).
