The Counseling and School Psychology (CSP) programs recognize the need to prepare school counseling professionals who are forward thinking and who envision the world of education in new and innovative ways. We are committed to providing Chapman University graduates with a dynamic and intellectually challenging education that focuses on student advocacy, mental health in the schools, and full application of the ASCA model of practice.
Department: College of Educational Studies
Responsibilities: Tenure track faculty are expected to develop and maintain an active research agenda for future tenure consideration and are evaluated on their research/scholarly activity, teaching and service.
Teach, advise, and mentor students across the CSP programs, particularly those in the School Counseling track.
Actively contribute as an integral member of the school counseling and school psychology faculty in the ongoing development, implementation, and assessment of the overall program.
Pursue line(s) of research / publication related to counseling, supervision, and mental health.
Actively participate in the continuing education of school counselors, counselors and/or school psychologists through presentations at conferences, school district partnerships, and local professional organizations.
Earned Ph.D./Ed.D by start of the appointment.
Demonstrated potential of effective teaching at the graduate level.
Demonstrated potential of sustainable and significant research and scholarship.
Demonstrated ability to build beneficial and productive working relationships within the university and public education communities.
Demonstrated ability to supervise counseling fieldwork and teach graduate courses directly related to counseling.
CA credential (or equivalent) and professional experience in school counseling.
Experience with development and implementation of innovative clinical and school counseling programs.
Ability to design and implement program assessment tools.
Active involvement in national professional organizations.
Ability to teach courses across CSP program courses (i.e., school counseling, school psychology, clinical counseling) as needed.
Familiarity with CACREP program standards and accreditation. requirements.
CA licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Psychologist, LPCC, MFT, or LCSW.
Graduate of CACREP or equivalently accredited program.
