The Assistant Dean serves in a leadership capacity for the unit responsible for graduate professional programs at Northeastern University College of Professional Studies. The Assistant Dean's primary areas of responsibilities include academic operations; program partnership development and management; academic quality assessment, and ensuring quality student experiences.
Essential functions include:
? Supervising a team of staff who manage the operational aspects of the portfolio, e.g., course scheduling; part-time faculty teaching assignments and payroll; course section sizes.
? Supporting the Associate Dean in development and execution of strategic planning efforts and annual planning for the portfolio, e.g., marketing strategy; enrollment projection; fiscal management
? Supporting the Associate Dean in liaising with the University's graduate campuses and transnational partners
? Providing support to the unit in new program and partnership development opportunities
? Providing support to the Associate Dean in academic quality assurance efforts, e.g., course and curriculum review; academic quality assurance, prior-learning assessment, part-time faculty instruction; student learning; program enhancement; faculty development.
? Providing support for the coordination of academic assessment processes including annual program reviews (internal), external program reviews, and accreditation
As needed, the Assistant Dean addresses concerns raised by students, faculty, and staff within the unit.
Doctoral degree in an academic discipline required with 8-10 years administrative experience in a two- or four-year college setting or related business environment. Strong leadership and effective communication skills are a must. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to relate to and interact with diverse constituencies. Effective administrative, supervisory, and organizational skills and evidence of excellent decision-making skills are required. This position requires project management experience and a demonstrated ability to manage rapidly evolving priorities. A commitment to adult and international education. Must be able to travel to any of the colleges campuses or partnering institutions within Massachusetts, the U.S., and the world. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed is required. Position is located at the Boston Campus.
Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and a working knowledge of Access.
