RESEARCH SPECIALIST/MICROCT IMAGING SCIENTIST, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research (KI), to join the Animal Imaging and Preclinical Testing Core Facility. Will be responsible for enhancing the facility's capabilities in microCT imaging and analysis for a broad range of applications; and overseeing model development, user training and instrument use, maintenance, and troubleshooting. The position will include collaborative teamwork in planning and executing preclinical efficacy studies in rodents (including some animal handling, injections, necropsies etc.) and involve extensive collaboration with faculty, postdoctoral, and graduate trainees for experimental design, training, execution of experiments, data analysis, and development of new methodologies. May collect and analyze data from other imaging modalities (MRI, ultrasound, PET, and optical imaging), perform biochemical assays, and train and oversee technical staff.
REQUIRED: advanced degree in biology or similar scientific discipline; at least three years' postgraduate small animal imaging research experience; strong background in biological research with an emphasis on cancer, metastasis, and/or therapeutic testing in small animal models; demonstrated expertise in microCT imaging and methodology development; strong working knowledge of microCT imaging theory and data analysis; proven ability to independently design, execute, and optimize microCT imaging experiments; demonstrated proficiency operating complex imaging systems and with data management, analysis, and quantitation; ability to work both independently and as part of a team, be capable of productive interactions with a diverse group of researchers including providing training and services, and enjoy working in a collaborative environment; exceptional organizational, troubleshooting, and interpersonal abilities; and strong oral and written communication skills.
