The Department of Environmental Studies and Sciences at Santa Clara University, a Jesuit, Catholic university, offers a broad range of courses in the four concentrations within our Environmental Studies major.
Depending on the needs of the department, we seek qualified applicants for the position of Quarterly Adjunct Lecturer (part-time) to teach lower or upper division level lecture courses in Environmental Studies. Examples of such courses may be ENVS 22: Introduction to Environmental Studies and ENVS 79: Environmental Thought.
Faculty responsibilities are specified by the Santa Clara University Faculty Handbook (sec. 3.6). Duties include but are not limited to:
A. Teaching lecture courses as appropriate
B. Fulfilling all responsibilities associated with the assigned course, including:
1. Conducting all assigned class meetings and individual conferences with students; 2. Assigning and evaluating student work including exams and written assignments; 3. Holding weekly office hours on campus; 4. Submitting student grades to the Office of the Registrar by the designated deadline; 5. Administering numerical and narrative course evaluations to each class as assigned by the chair; and 6. Fulfilling other instructional or academic duties as may be assigned by the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences or by the Department Chair.
