The Laboratory for Biomolecular Simulation Research (http://lbsr.rutgers.edu) at Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking a method and software developer in the area of quantum chemistry. The main project area involves the development of new quantum mechanical force fields and multiscale quantum models to study biocatalysis that will be integrated into well established molecular simulation software packages such as AMBER, CHARMM and OpenMM. Applicants must hold a PhD in chemistry or a related area, have a deep working knowledge of theoretical/computational chemistry, and a strong publication and software development track record. Research experience in the following areas are particularly encouraged: force field or quantum model development, QM/MM methods, NMR chemical shift prediction, path integral methods, and ab initio density-functional or linear-scaling electronic structure methods. Proficiency in high-level programming (especially, C++ and Python) is required, and high-performance computing and/or experience programming on GPUs is desirable. Strong written and oral communication skills in English, as well as the ability to work independently and prepare scientific manuscripts is required. Applicants will be considered at the postdoctoral, research associate/assistant professor and Junior Fellows level based on level of experience. For Junior Fellow positions, applicants must have relevant postdoctoral experience and provide a 1-page description of their career goals.
