The OHSU Register Nurse utilizes education and training to:Develop, coordinate and supervise implementation of the nursing process. Demonstrate performance consistent with Departmental, Divisional and Organizational expectations. Assess potential or actual patient health problems. Prioritize patient care responsibilities and seek consultation, when indicated. Perform area specific skills and follow established protocols. Execute physicians orders and seeking clarification as needed. Recognize and respond to emergent situations. Document according to established policies and procedures. Coordinate care and/or services with other team members. Communicate in a respectful, caring and non-judgmental manner. Provide health teaching and counseling that is supportive and/or restorative of health. Demonstrate fiscal accountability and the effective use of resources. Assume responsibility for professional development and maintenance of a knowledge base essential to the role of the professional nurse. Incorporate quality improvement practices into performance. Incorporate OHSUs Service Excellence Philosophy into performance. Participate in the teaching and research missions of OHSU Hospitals and Clinics. Support patient/family across the continuum of care through service coordination. Perform staff member requirements as outlined in the Compliance Section of the Core Competencies. Adhere to the OHSU Code of Conduct. Identify and prioritize pain and comfort care and adhere to the OHSU policy for Pain Management.
Current Oregon RN license. ACLS. One year PACU experience preferred; will accept 2 years critical care or emergency room experience.
