Duties and Responsibilities:
The College of Engineering at the University of Houston invites applications for a non-tenure-track faculty position to begin in the 2017-2018 academic year. Successful applicants will join the Undergraduate Student Success Program (USSP) faculty team, whose main role is teaching first-year engineering students. This faculty team works closely with the college's academic advisors, with faculty in many departments; filling a crucial role in equipping first-year students for success. The main organizations within Undergraduate Student Success are The Program for Mastery of Engineering Studies (PROMES) and the Honors Engineering Program (HEP). These programs seek to provide a positive and supportive environment where students are enabled to succeed academically while gaining an understanding of the engineering profession and its disciplines.
The main responsibility of this position is teaching. The annual teaching course load is twelve contact hours per semester, with several sections of the same course in any semester. Course assignments will be at the undergraduate level, focusing on first-year engineering courses and a limited number of sophomore engineering courses as well. USSP faculty work as a team, developing course curriculum and content, along with working together during the semesters on delivery and student interactions. These courses emphasize design and problem solving using engineering tools and software.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible, non-tenure-track position as an instructional assistant professor. Appointments are made on an annual 9-month basis, salary commensurate with experience.

and/or have a record of scholarly activities in the area of engineering education.
