UW Medicine Accounting has an outstanding opportunity for a Senior Financial Reporting Analyst, Health System Accounting. The UWM Senior Financial Reporting Analyst plays a leadership role in the preparation, compilation and review of the UWM internal and external financial reporting. This individual will have primary accountability for ensuring the technical accuracy and consistency with both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal financial reporting policies. This individual will work with the various UW Medicine entities and the Director of Financial Reporting to develop and maintain standard financial reports and reporting tools.
Under the direction of the UWM Financial Reporting Director, primary job duties include coordination and resolution of complex financial reporting issues among health system entities, development and maintenance of standard Board level financial reports, and leadership in standardization projects where consistent reporting is a deliverable. In coordination with the G/L Integrity Manager, this work includes ensuring that general ledger accounts, cost centers, budgets and source systems for reporting tools remain in sync; developing reports and tools to ensure meaningful, consistent and reproducible results; and either preparing or serving in a quality control capacity for internal and external reporting of Financial information.
Prepare various consolidated monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for presentation to Management, Senior Leadership, Finance Committee and Board.
Create both standard and ad-hoc reporting tools for efficiently accumulating, analyzing and reporting financial information consistently from source systems. Update and maintain standard reports to ensure consistency of version and format with external, board and regulatory reporting.
Assume primary responsibility for the financial reporting component of the annual financial audit in coordination with entity general ledger managers.
Perform technical accounting research, analysis and position papers in order to provide management with financial data and recommendations for use in determining accounting treatment and financial reporting guidelines.
Participate in financial reporting standardization projects between health system entities.
Work closely with the Medical Center Accounting groups as well as the G/L Integrity Manager to ensure changes in ledger accounts and source
system data elements as well as financial reporting requirements are
considered and properly reflected in the financial records and reports.
Develop and maintain affiliate transaction listings and elimination
requirements to ensure appropriate consolidated reporting
Represent UW Medicine Accounting on committees or task forces as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.
| Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field AND at least five (5) years of working experience demonstrating familiarity with the process flow and functions of an accounting department. |
Experience with preparing GAAP financial statements, including consolidations (Required).
Public Accounting experience strongly preferred.
Experience with State, Local and Federal tax compliance preferred.
CPA strongly preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP and GASB.
Advanced skill level in using General Ledger applications and supporting software programs, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for stated requirements.
