This is clinical position that is part of a non-teaching inpatient medicine care team (Clinical Hospitalist Service) within the Division of Hospital Medicine in the Department on Medicine. The focus of care will be the provision of primary care for medical inpatients and consultative care for non-medical inpatients.
This position reports to: Chairman of the Department of Medicine for academic responsibilities and the Head of the Division of Hospital Medicine for clinical activities.
The duties of this position include:
Clinical duties will be to admit, manage and discharge patients and perform medical consultation. This position is part of a program committed to the provision of compassionate and exceptional patient oriented care. Thus, the employee will represent this objective in interactions with patients, consultants, or other individuals involved in the care process. This program also covers its own clinical activities, such that each member will be part of an internal back-up system in case of illness or absence.Clinical duties while on either service consist of being the Physician of Record for the hospitalization for patient on your service. It will involve performing clinical evaluations, documenting and generating billings related to those visits. You will be expected to interact daily with case management about the treatment and discharge plans on your patients.
The faculty member will be expected to participate in continuing education, professional and faculty development and scholarship as directed by his/her department.
Compensation for this position will include a base academic salary paid through the academic department plus a clinical salary from an incentive system based on the success and productivity of the practice, as well as personal initiative. Clinical salary will be paid through Faculty Practice Plan (FPP).
