Summary Description: The Rabadan Lab is a multi-disciplinary team at the Columbia University Medical Center consisting of computational and evolutionary biologists, physicists, and physicians. As part of the Departments of Systems Biology and Biomedical Informatics, we collaborate with clinicians and public health researchers from around the world to explore the genetic underpinnings and epidemiology of cancer and infectious diseases.We are searching for a postdoctoral research Scientist who wants to work in a creative and collaborative environment on questions related to human health and evolution, carcinogenesis, and microbial pathogens.
Minimum Qualifications: ?PhD in life sciences with strong focus on computation or mathematical modeling; PhD in other quantitative sciences will also be considered if applicant has demonstrated experience addressing biological questions?Background in molecular epidemiology, evolutionary biology, immunology, public health, or related fields?Experience with large genomic datasets?Strong writing, presentation, and programming abilitiesCandidates with only some of the above qualifications are also highly encouraged to apply ? we are always looking for talented and dedicated pre- and post-doctoral scientists!
Preferred Qualifications: For the current position, we are specifically looking for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist who will spend ~50% of their time on a new collaboration studying the viral pathogen landscape in a cohort of 2,000 study participants. Together with our collaborators in the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, we will use tools of computational biology and molecular epidemiology to explore how pathogens spread through communities in and around New York City.
