Associate or Full Professor (HS Clin, Clin X) - Surgical Oncologist
The University of California, San Diego, Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology (http://oncology.ucsd.edu/) and Moores UCSD Cancer Center (https://health.ucsd.edu/specialties/cancer/) are committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and seek to recruit a fellowship trained surgical oncologist with a focus on clinical care and research in the area of gastrointestinal cancer, with a major emphasis on the care of patients with peritoneal surface malignancy.
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated excellence in clinical care of patients with peritoneal surface malignancy, with a minimum of 5 years of practice experience (exclusive of fellowship training), as well as an excellent track record of publication.
Qualified candidates must meet the following criteria: 1) MD and Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery 2) Successful completion of an SSO approved fellowship in surgical oncology 3) Commitment to research and education 4) Minimum of five years experience with demonstrated excellence in cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC 5) Must have or be able to obtain a California medical license
Training in the following areas are also highly desirable: 1) Advanced gastrointestinal surgery including minimally invasive techniques 2) Novel intraperitoneal therapeutics 3) Expertise in palliative care
HPB surgery will not form a component of practice. The faculty member will be expected to devote 90% of their time to clinical care.
Appointment will be at the Associate or Full Professor rank in the Clinical Series. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales. Review of applications will begin on September 20, 2016 and continue until the position is filled.
