Ultimately, Stanford Radiology plans to play a very important role in the development of precision health by moving advances from the laboratories to the clinic for improved patient-centric care.
The Department of Radiology, in collaboration with the Stanford Center for Clinical Research (SCCR) and the Department of Medicine, is conducting one of the largest, most innovative, longitudinal studies in association with a leading Silicon Valley tech company and multiple high-profile academic partners. Radiology is seeking to hire a Finance Manager to support this exciting new study.
He/she will be developing, implementing and managing financial systems that support compliance, strategic planning, and decision making for program administration. The study has unique requirements due to cross-school collaborations, industrial and academic partnerships and a sub-contract with the Palo Alto VA. The study includes more than 30 staff/faculty and up to 1,000 subjects per year. The candidate will be tasked with establishing a robust financial infrastructure and processes for effective management of the program. Responsibilities will include process-oriented tasks requiring accounting functions involving fiscal interpretation and analysis, reconciliations and review of multiple accounts and transactions. Additionally, the position will also provide analytical, problem solving and evaluative support to guide the PIs and Operations Team on efficient and compliant financial oversight of the study. The position will report to the Associate Director, Finance and Administration in Radiology and the Operations Director of the study.
Analyze accounting transactions and information to summarize current financial position at the unit or organization-wide level.
Collect data and perform research on details of transactions. Generate, review, analyze and communicate financial data that reflects actual financial performance against approved budgets. Prepare and present quantitative and qualitative analyses focusing on variances from budget and prior data.
Capture, track, and report revenue and expenses; determine appropriate procedures for accounting record preparation, research of transactions and reporting. Oversee, reconcile, and resolve problems relative to complicated accounts.
Maintain and review accounting process controls; recommend and implement any approved modifications; perform preliminary analysis and recommend solutions.
Develop reports and presentations of complex financial data and metrics for management and third parties.
Participate in critical analysis of existing systems and processes, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Participate as a member of a project team; support new initiatives. Make decisions determining approach to managing and completing processes.
Participate in work area or unit projects.
Serve as a resource to local units and other departments to resolve accounting-related issues, as needed.

Qualifications EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED):
Bachelor's degree plus four years of applicable experience, or combination of education and relevant work experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED):
Intermediate proficiency in business applications, such as Microsoft Office; intermediate Excel skills.
Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with accounting systems and the internet; computer literacy.
Understanding of and ability to apply accounting skills and concepts.
Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
Demonstrated communication skills, including the ability to clearly and effectively communicate information to internal audiences and client groups.
Demonstrated project management skills and ability to contribute as part of a project team.
CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES:
Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.
