The Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) program at the University of California, Merced invites applications for one tenure-track (Assistant Professor) position in the area of the Internet of Things (IoT) beginning in the 2017-18 academic year. Applications are especially encouraged from individuals with research interest in (but not limited to) embedded sensors, pervasive connectivity, mobile computing, wearables, security, interoperability, mixed signal systems, fog networking/computing, and wireless embedded systems.
The School of Engineering is proud of its faculty’s accomplishments and our rapid growth. Over the past five years, undergraduate and graduate enrollments have grown by 65 percent. The School currently has 49 faculty members, 1,400 undergraduates and over 140 graduate students. The campus opened a new Science and Engineering Building in 2014 and will begin to undertake a massive building program that will more than double the campus building areas beginning in 2017.
Qualifications: A doctoral degree (preferred by July 1, 2017, must be conferred by Dec. 31, 2017) in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or a related field is required at time of employment. Applicants should have a distinguished academic record, an exceptional potential to conduct world-class research in a collaborative environment, and a strong commitment to teaching electrical engineering and/or computer science subject matter at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
We anticipate that the successful applicants will complement the highly motivated and entrepreneurial spirit of the School faculty, contributing meaningfully to the success of future teaching, research, and service accomplishments. Faculty research activities are essential to the success of our program and as such new members are expected to initiate and sustain strong sponsored research and graduate training programs.
