The duties of this position include:
Participate in the didactic education of dental students as assigned by the Chair; supervision of and assisting dental students performing dental laboratory procedures in support of clinic treatment
Coordinate clinical cases being completed by outside laboratories; review cases for quality prior to sending to and upon receipt from external labs; work with faculty, students and laboratory personnel to ensure quality standards are met; make recommendations to clinic administration regarding service level and quality from external laboratories.
Assist in the management and operation of dental and simulation labs, including the supervision of student operation, and the maintenance and replacement of equipment.
Assist students on common laboratory procedures, such as model fabrication, soldering, selecting and distributing denture teeth, metal polishing, diagnostic waxing, ceramics adjustments, air abrading, ceramic firing, custom shade matching. Maintain an inventory of laboratory supplies needed to support the student laboratory procedures.
Operate CAD-CAM systems (including imaging and milling units), and provide training and assistance to students and faculty. Assist in the production of CAD-CAM cases for the predoctoral clinic and the predoctoral preclinic courses.
Participate in a program of scholarly activity to include assistance of research activities performed by students and other faculty. Participate in departmental activities.
