The Department of Sociology at UC San Diego (www.sociology.ucsd.edu) has occasional openings for temporary non-tenure track lecturers (Unit 18) throughout the academic year. Courses in which lecturers are typically needed may include undergraduate lower and upper division lecture courses in the areas of Law and Society, Immigration, and Religion including SOCI 152: Social Inequality and Public Policy (FALL), SOCI 118E: Sociology of Language, SOCI 123: Japanese Culture, SOCI 135: Medical Sociology, SOCI 156: Sociology of Religion, SOCI 179: Social Change, SOCI 137: Sociology of Food, etc. The full list of courses offered by the Department of Sociology can be found in the online course catalog: (http://www.ucsd.edu/catalog/courses/SOC.html) We are seeking applicants with a Ph.D. in Sociology or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience relevant to the course(s) to which they are applying to teach. Applicants with teaching experience are preferred? experience can be as a teaching assistant. Appointments may be full or part time, for 1, 2, or 3 quarters in duration.
