Rowan University is a public comprehensive state-designated research institution with approximately 16,000 students. SUMMARY: Directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of CMSRU in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the Dean and the University. The incumbent will perform the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs the preparation of short-term and long-range plans based on the School?s broad goals, objectives and strategies.
Implements programs that meet the University?s and School?s goals and objectives.
Develops the structure and processes necessary to manage the School?s current activities and its projected growth.
Guides management in the development, production, and promotion of the School?s programs and services.
Works directly with and supports the Dean on a broad range of complex projects and activities of the School and the University. Represents him/her on School, University and External Committees, as assigned.
Works closely with the Chief Financial Officer of Rowan University and the Dean of CMSRU to ensure that plans are developed and operations conducted in consideration of resource requirements and financial viability.
Serves as a liaison for all areas centralized under Rowan University.
Serves as a liaison to the Human Resources Department of Rowan University.
Manages personnel issues as directed by the Dean including performance evaluations and timesheets.
Assists with faculty and staff hiring and recruitment.
Works with University administrators and with other members of the School?s administrative team to ensure efficient, cohesive operations.
Coordinates with directors and managers who direct operational activities at CMSRU, including facilities, finance, IT, marketing, and development.
Maintains a sound plan of organization, establishing policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.
Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood.
Serves as liaison with University departments including but not limited to human resources, IT, finance, facilities, Office of General Counsel, compliance, public safety and emergency preparedness.
Establishes operating policies consistent with the Dean?s broad policies and objectives and ensures their execution.
Oversees continuous quality improvement for maintenance of LCME accreditation and strategic planning.
Supports Medical School Board (MSB) meetings and CMSRU personnel meetings as directed by the Dean.
Completes documents and surveys required by the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC).
Serves as the CMSRU principal business officer for AAMC activities.
Develops and installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the School and with the University.
Evaluates the results of overall operations regularly and systematically and reports these results to the Dean.
Ensures that all of the School?s activities and operations are carried out in compliance with University, local, state, and federal policies, regulations and laws.
Acts as a role model for customer service.
Understands and adheres to Rowan?s compliance standards as they appear in Rowan's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and Rowan regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
Ensures that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION: Master?s degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Administration or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of higher level management experience in an academic health center environment.
Outstanding communications and leadership skills, and the ability to function in a team environment are required. Demonstrated knowledge is necessary of how to accomplish superior performance in a unionized environment.
