The Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations at Rowan University is a growing enterprise. The Division?s mission is to create and sustain a vibrant, safe, supportive environment at Rowan?s campuses. the division is dedicated to providing leadership in facilities development and management, campus planning and business operations. This Division is led by the Senior Vice President of Facilities Planning and Operations
The Department of Planning and Real Estate is a part of the Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations. Its mission is to plan and promote a safe, sustainable, healthy and visually appealing campus environment and aesthetic.
Through collaboration and partnership with the rest of the Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations and campus community, this Department leads master planning and design processes for campus development, interior renovations, adaptive reuse and open space initiatives. It is also responsible for space planning and the management of related data for the University.
Under the direction of the Senior Director for Planning and Real Estate, this position requires a high level planning and design professional, providing the design and oversight needs of the University and also supervises the management of space planning and data. Creative problem solving, leadership, strategic thinking, and a strong client service focus are essential qualities for success in this position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicate, partner and collaborate on all planning and design matters with the other Departments within the Division of Facilities, Planning and Operations, the campus community and consultants.
Maintain, promulgate, monitor and update campus Master Plans including those for Facilities, Storm water and Landscape.
Oversee space planning and manage related data, including building plans and maps.
Provide or manage programming services, and collaboratively lead design efforts and feasibility assessments for proposed development, interior renovations, adaptive reuse and open space initiatives.
Ensure compliance with University design guidelines and standards
Manage or provide conceptual design and other services that may be needed for the implementation of small size or special projects.
Maintain and ensure the use of design guidelines and standards.
Actively participate in the selection of planning and design related consultant services
Perform additional related duties as assigned.
6 years of experience in planning and design oversight in an educational campus or equivalent institutional setting
Experience in supervising personnel
Experience in project management and preparation of Design and Construction documents preferred
- Experience with sustainable and green design preferred
Knowledge and Abilities
- master planning at a campus scale and the capacity to integrate multidisciplinary thinking in planning, especially the integration of architecture and open space
- Proficiency in the creation of photo realistic renderings, using Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD, Sketch Up and Microsoft Office
