Posting Summary: The College and Graduate School of Arts and Sciences Research Administration department provides support to expand research activities. This position will join the Research Administration department in the A&S Dean's Office with a priority to focus on post-award grant management activities.
The incumbent will provide advice, guidance and expertise to effectively and appropriately manage grant funds in accordance with the sponsor's criteria and in accordance with University policies and procedures. Prepares documentation for grant extensions; advises PI's and departmental financial administrators on reporting, budgeting, and appropriateness of expenditures. Advises and assists in investigating and reconciling expenditures. Provides training and assists faculty and department grant administrators to most efficiently and effectively utilize UVa's effort reporting and grant reconciliation systems. Provides training to faculty and staff on using the Research UVA application, working one-on-one as necessary. Manages and analyzes award data, and responds to all requests from sponsors.
Works independently to support assigned A&S areas and contributes as part of a larger A&S team responsible for providing both pre and post award services. Interfaces with University Sponsored Programs, Financial Administration, and other internal departments as needed. Keeps abreast of new regulations and changes in grantor requirements, criteria and processes.

Required Minimum Level of Experience: Some - up to 4 years
Required Specific Experience: a minimum of three years of experience in post-award management, managing to proposal budgets, performing financial reconciliation and reporting. Some experience interacting collaboratively with sponsors, Principal Investigators, departmental fiscal administrators, etc.
Preferred License or Certification: Certified Research Administrator (CRA)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong organization and attention to detail required; ability to accurately maintain files and records. Excellent written and verbal communications skills; ability to convey complex technical information to a generalist audience. Knowledge of Cost Accounting Standards and other sponsored research subject matter is required. Knowledge of the post-award processes of research administration and an understanding of financial management is required. Ability to generate reports, analyze data, and make recommendations to resolve issues. Ability to work independently to support assigned areas and grants, and collaboratively to support team members. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and amenable to changing priorities and assignments. Demonstrated ability to interact with all members of the University community in a respectful and patient manner.
Required Computer Applications: Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word and Adobe Acrobat is required.
Preferred Computer Applications: Knowledge of the Oracle financial modules (GL, GM, and Purchasing) and Discoverer.
