Minimum Annual or Hourly Rate: $14.90/hr.
A Research Assistant 2 position is available immediately to assist/conduct research on lipid metabolism, its association with mitochondrial autophagy and homeostasis, and its effects on cardiac and skeletal muscle function, and general day to day lab maintenance.
Bachelor Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, or other health-related field and at least two years of related experience; OR a Master’s Degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biology, or other health-related field and one year of related experience.
Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology or related field by start date, or minimum of 1 years of experience in laboratory research in cell biology and/or molecular biology. Laboratory experience in some of the following techniques (PCR, qPCR, DNA and RNA extraction and purification, western blot, immunostaining, cell culture, cloning, and immunoprecipitation) and experience in working with mice is preferred.
Essential Functions and percent of time::
75% Conducting research in the laboratory, analyzing the data and devising innovative scientific and technical solutions.
10% Ordering research reagent and lab supplies.
15% Supervising/training undergraduate/graduate students.
Special Contract terms and conditions of employment apply. Length of contract is one year, renewable, contingent upon funding.
