A Certified Alcohol/Other Drug Counselor in the Center for Health & Counseling Services is responsible to the Coordinator of AOD Prevention and provides alcohol/other drug assessments and make referrals to higher levels of care for students dealing with substance abuse and/or addiction issues.

Knowledge and Abilities:
Experience with college students or young adult population In-depth knowledge of the causes and effects of alcohol/other drug abuse and/or addiction in individuals and families Understanding of addictions treatment and recovery Maintains professional development in substance abuse counseling Experience working in a culturally diverse population Excellent verbal/written communication skills and works well with people
EDUCATION: Master's Degree in mental health field. New Jersey Certification in Alcohol/other Drug Counseling (CADC) required.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years' experience in alcohol/other drug counseling and assessments Knowledgeable about motivational interviewing techniques Knowledgeable about how to conduct BASICS
