Advertised Summary Job Description: The Manager, Surgical Scheduling will be responsible for managing all functions of surgical case coordination for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and for oversight of the Department's operating room utilization.
?Manages all department elective surgery scheduling in Allen, Milstein, Heart Center, and Lawrence operating rooms. ?Displays intimate knowledge of surgical schedule; will be required to have in-depth understanding of clinical staff, equipment, and OR availability. ?Liaise with OR management and staff to ensure appropriate booking of all surgical cases in OR Manager prior to surgery date. ?Optimize the department's use of OR block time by tracking utilization and provider vacations and conferences and by effectively managing and communicating open/block time availability to surgical coordinators and physicians in each division as appropriate. ?Prepares updates for senior leadership and develops new ways of maximizing OR time. ?Daily supervision of the Department's surgical scheduling staff, including hiring, training, and performance management. ?Provide coverage for surgical coordination of cases, including the scheduling of pre-operative/ancillary testing, communication with patients of surgery details, and pre-certification and authorization with third party payors. ?Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel. Ability to be a team player in a busy environment.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a surgical department and/or practice preferred.
