Promote, schedule, and conduct consultations, fitness assessments, and training sessions with Recreational Services' clients as assigned. Reports to Assistant Director, Fitness and Wellness or other designated supervisor.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: Perform, interpret, and explain fitness assessments, including body composition, cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength and endurance, and flexibility.
Use fitness assessment results to discuss goals and to develop exercise prescriptions for clients.
Adhere to American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) standards and guidelines to design exercise programs.
Contact new clients to set up initial meeting and training sessions.
Maintain all individual client records including sessions purchased and remaining sessions.
Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude with patrons and co-workers at all times.
Take an active role in all Fitness and Wellness special events and promotion activities.
Attend all staff and specific area meetings as required.
Maintain current Personal Trainer, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
Perform related duties as assigned.
High school diploma, GED, or other equivalent. Previous personal trainer experience.
License/Certification: Current and nationally recognized National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) personal training certification required. American Red Cross certification in CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and Health Care Providers required within 30 days of hire. Class and certification are available through the department.
