The Facilities & Operations (F&O) Directorate's mission is to support the science and technology and environmental restoration missions of the laboratory by providing a safe, environmentally sound, and reliable infrastructure. To provide high quality crafts and fabrication services to our customers as needed and to protect people, property, and national security.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the first line supervision of the Site Resources Division's Heavy Equipment Mechanic-Operator (HEMO) shop in the Site Resources Division of the Facilities and Operations Directorate.
Coordinates and directs the work of assigned staff. Direction of work includes assignment, scheduling, grievance handling, and technical direction.
Works closely with F & O personnel, other craft supervision and department coordinators on work planning, tracking, and completion of work orders.
Reports to the General Supervisor Roads & Mason, Grounds & Sanitation, Rigging, Heavy Equipment.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have detailed knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of but not limited to: earth moving equipment, fixed and mobile cranes, diesel generators, elevators, material handling, roads and grounds maintenance equipment.
Requires a minimum of 10 years progressive supervisory experience in heavy equipment fleet maintenance, construction, excavation, roads and grounds.
Experience working with preventive and corrective maintenance systems (Maximo Preferred), estimating, project planning and the ability to coordinate & schedule multi-craft activities.
Must have a working knowledge of computers and software applications.
Must be able to communicate technical information on all levels within the organization, demonstrate good work habits and apply ES&H practices in the field.
- Must be able to work extended hours during the winter months for snow clearing activities.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Class A CDL with endorsements a plus and a crane operator's license is highly desirable.
