The University of Pittsburgh, School of Dental Medicine, with its Program in Dental Hygiene in the Department of Periodontics and Preventive Dentistry, announces the immediate availability of one full-time (12-month) non-tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor, available September 1, 2016. Academic rank and salary are commensurate with education, teaching, and professional experience. A master's degree in dental hygiene, or a related discipline; and a minimum of two years of successful teaching experience in didactic, clinical, and laboratory dental hygiene courses is expected. Teaching responsibilities will include serving as course director of the Health Promotion through the Lifespan course and the Dental Health Education course, clinical, laboratory, and other didactic instruction for dental hygiene associate degree and baccalaureate degree-completion students. Additional responsibilities include committee assignments, student advising, scholarly activities and research, participation in professional organizations, community service, and participation in the faculty practice and faculty development opportunities. Applicant must work collaboratively as a member of the program teach in accreditation preparation; participate in program improvement activities, and designated faculty assignments as identified by the program director. The successful candidate must possess or be eligible for Pennsylvania dental hygiene licensure and dental hygiene local anesthesia permit. The School of Dental Medicine requires successful background checks and Act 31 clearance prior to the official offer of the position.
