Job Summary: A Research Associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Jason Bazil in the Department of Physiology at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI. The primary goal is to investigate and characterize the molecular events that regulate calcium-induced, reactive oxygen species-sensitized, mitochondrial dysfunction in the ischemia/reperfusion injury model. A computational approach will be used to integrate experimental data into a quantitative framework and aid in interpreting the bioenergetic and physiological changes associated with mitochondrial dysfunction in cardiac myocytes. Requirements include a Ph.D. and experience and knowledge of computational physiology and dynamical systems modeling. Knowledge in enzyme kinetics and mitochondrial physiology are desired.
