The Surgery Scheduler schedules patient surgeries. Obtains authorizations and pre-authorization for surgical services. Schedules ancillary appointments as necessary for patients. Ensures patient charts are prepared prior to surgery including x-rays and pertinent lab work. Makes arrangements for any special equipment as needed. Reviews and codes charge slips for patient care services and/or surgical services rendered. Maintains files and records, including supporting documentation for insurance claims. Maintains master surgery calendar for physician(s). Oversees equipment and office supply inventory. Reads all incoming mail, prioritizing and distributing as appropriate.
-High School Graduate or GED.
-Minimum one year medical office management, medical secretarial or medical assisting experience. Combined education/experience may be substituted for minimum experience.
-A Fire and Safety card must be presented upon hire or must be obtained at our facility within the first 30 days of hire and maintained by renewing before expiration date.

High School or equivalent
Minimum Field of Expertise:
Experience working in a call center, out-patient clinic or hospital. Knowledge of scheduling visit types and dictionaries as they relate to master schedules daily schedule and templates. Knowledge of HIPPA compliance and various insurance types. Demonstrated interpersonal skills, written and oral communication. Ability to multi-task. Experience working with Cerner EPF or similar system, IDX and GE Centricity Business Practice Management System and Alscripts Electronic Health Record. CMA (Certified of completion from medical assistant program).
