ELECTRICIAN, Facilities-Comprehensive Stewardship Group, to perform electrical work in all areas of the Institute. Will install, maintain, and repair building electrical distribution systems, building and outside lighting systems, variable frequency drives, building safety equipment, motor control centers (including but not limited to fans, pumps, and motors), and other electrical-related systems; install and maintain fire alarm systems, which may include Simplex, Grinnell, Notifier and/or other types of fire protection systems once the necessary training has been provided by management; receive work order assignments, order materials, and complete tasks accurately with written comments provided on work orders upon completion; and perform all installation, maintenance, inspection, and testing in accordance with applicable standards and requirements of the Massachusetts' electrical code and/or established compliance requirements of the authority having jurisdiction.
REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; minimum of five years of work experience with MA journeyman's electrician's license; ability to work from blueprints, specifications, wiring diagrams and schematics and sketches; and ability to lift weights of up to 50 pounds. Vocational training and participation in an electrical apprenticeship program preferred. Must be able to walk, stand, and work while bending, kneeling, and stooping for extended periods; climb stairs and work from ladders, scaffolds, and other above ground locations such as roofs; use scissor lifts, articulating lifts, and bucket trucks; and wear personal protective equipment and MIT-provided ARC flash rated clothing. The environment contains dust, odors, and fumes and high levels of noise and temperature extremes. Work may be performed near steam and moving machinery, in tight areas and confined spaces, with and around chemicals and solvents, research labs and animal facilities, and outdoors in inclement weather.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 11:00 P.M. - 7:00 A.M.
