Director of National Study Center - Trauma & Emergency Medicine-(160000AA)
The National Study Center (NSC) for Trauma and Emergency Medical Systems is currently seeking a candidate for a full- time senior faculty position to serve as Director. The position will be available beginning July 2016.
Essential functions of the position include:
Providing leadership of NSC faculty and staff.
Working with faculty to increase extramural research funding.
Overseeing strategic and financial objectives of the Center.
Managing staff assigned to day to day research and academic operations.
Overseeing the recruitment, selection, evaluation and training of staff.
Assessing and revising as required the research strategic plan.
Representing the NSC at local, state and national levels.
The National Study Center for Trauma and Emergency Medical Systems is part of the Shock, Trauma and Anesthesiology Re- search (STAR) organized research center at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Staffed by nationally known epidemiologists, physicians, statisticians and database coor- dinators, the NSC collaborates with government agencies, professional associations, universities and private enterprises to increase understanding of trauma epidemiology and emergency medical system response.
Minimum requirements include an M.D. or Ph.D. with exper- tise in the area of injury epidemiology or related fields; an established extramural funding history; and prior leadership experience. This position includes an academic appointment within the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Rank and salary will reflect experience and training.
