Position Summary: Immediate openings for part time casual Art Museum Store staff. Primary function is to professionally greet and assist all visitors when they enter the Museum Store, and facilitate purchases at the register.
Essential Qualifications: Retail experience required. Flexible work schedule required which will include hours on Saturdays, Sundays and some evenings. Shifts for key busy periods including holidays are also required. Approximately 15 - 24 hours per week would be available.This position requires interacting directly with the public in a composed museum setting, and requires learning about the handmade artisan merchandise in the store. Experience in Windows based computer registers is required as operating POS (point of sale) register system necessary. Must be able to routinely lift 30 pound cartons of books or merchandise. References will be checked.The final candidate will be required to complete a background check successfully.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in all tasks associated with retail store operations and visitor services preferred: answering visitor questions, ringing up sales, accepting phone orders, preparing shipments for delivery to customers, and filling special requests. Continuous learning about current exhibitions, lectures and special events, as well as museum collections are part of this position. Will be trained in all Store related systems, as well as security and emergency preparedness procedures.
