POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE (URBAN INFRASTRUCTURE), Singapore-MIT Alliance for Research and Technology (SMART)-Center for Environmental Sensing and Modeling (CENSAM), to conduct research in the monitoring of urban infrastructure as part of an overall research project aimed at demonstrating the benefits of wireless sensor networks in monitoring and controlling urban infrastructures. Will carry out research to advance the methods and interpretation of online water quality measurements for drinking water distribution systems.
The main focus of CENSAM's first phase--done in close collaboration with Singapore's Public Utilities Board (PUB)--has been on applications for water distribution systems (http://cee.mit.edu/system/files/SHMII-v6.pdf). The second phase aims to leverage this experience for other important infrastructure applications, notably monitoring structural health for temporary excavation support systems for underground construction projects.
The project, based at the SMART Center in Singapore with extended visits to MIT, is under the direction of Professor Andrew Whittle http://cee.mit.edu/whittle.
REQUIRED: a Ph.D. in relevant fields of civil, chemical, or environmental engineering, water chemistry, etc.; experience with water quality measurements or chemical sensing; a good publication record in reputable journals or conferences; and the ability to work both independently and in team settings. Seek self-motivated individual who demonstrates resourcefulness, productivity, and innovation. Job #10386
In addition to applying online here, a full CV/resume, cover letter, and list of three references and their contact information should be sent to Professor Andrew Whittle at email@example.com.
