Cowell College at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) invites applications for the position of temporary, part-time Lecturer, under the direction of the Cowell Provost. Cowell is seeking to establish a lecturer pool for its Enhancement Course Series, The Trajectory of Justice in American Society. This series deals with legal studies and major court cases before the US Supreme Court. Applicants should be able to contribute to Cowell College's emphasis on social justice and community, and, while trained in one discipline, should be comfortable working in an interdisciplinary environment. Possible related areas of teaching might include the humanities, law, arts, and social science. The successful candidate will be expected to design and/or teach course(s) in the area of The Trajectory of Justice in American Society.
SALARY: Commensurate with qualifications, experience, and number of course units taught per quarter.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: J.D. or terminal academic degree in hand at time of application; a demonstrated record of teaching in higher education; experience designing and teaching interdisciplinary courses; familiarity with major cases argued before the US Supreme Court.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Actual experience with constitutional law cases.
