Advertised Summary Job Description: The Nurse Practitioner (NP) for the Interstitial Lung Disease program will have combined clinical and research responsibilities. Clinical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing direct care to in and outpatients with interstitial lung disease, including obtaining histories and performing physical exams; developing a differential diagnosis and diagnostic impression based on objective and subjective data; documenting findings in the electronic medical record (EMR); monitoring patients who are on therapy; assessing patients' responses to treatment and intervention; writing orders and prescriptions; and counseling/instructing patients and their families. The ILD NP will work in coordination with ILD physicians, to support the outpatient management of ILD patients. The ILD NP will render appropriate care in the setting of an urgent patient matter, if a physician is unavailable, and document all care in the EMR. Research responsibilities include, but are not limited to, obtaining informed consent for clinical trials; completing research related safety and monitoring visits; managing blood specimens; documenting research study visits; and assisting in data management for research protocols. Performs additional duties as needed.
General Minimum Qualifications: Requires Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus 1 to 2 years of experience. Current New York State NP and RN license, and board certification.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in the care of patients with pulmonary disease.
